Gnosis
“The Essence, the Consciousness, awakens, becomes enlightened, is liberated, when the “I,” the ego, is dissolved, thus as a consequence or corollary, Self-knowledge, Self-Gnosis, develops. Undoubtedly, authentic revelation has its irrefutable and indisputable basis in Self-Gnosis… In the name of truth, I solemnly declare that the Being is the only real existence.“
The goal of Gnosticism today is the complete happiness of all beings without distinction, and it seeks to promote this through wisdom and practices directed for people to realize their true inner Being, in other words to Self-realize.
The Gnostic teachings enlighten us by reconnecting science with mysticism and art with philosophy, to make alive in us the values of our Being . We balance the mind, heart and body and liberate our consciousness from the traps of ego.
Gnosis is living in revelation and direct experience of the Being, and is worked towards with practices rooted in ages of tradition through teachings in the Gnostic centers and current Gnostic teachers. There is a community of practitioners across the globe who work upon themselves daily to die to the traps of the ego, rebirth in the Essence, Soul, and Being, and devote their lives to the benefit of humankind.

The Tacoma Gnostic Center
Our school is found on the outskirts of downtown Tacoma, a city whose name comes from Tahoma: the native Puyallup tribe’s name for the mountain we now call “Rainier”. Tahoma in the Lushootseed language is said to mean “Mother of the waters”. The Tacoma Gnostic Center, established in 2018, offers classes and retreats, calls upon the Divine Mother of our waters with the aim of helping the awakening of consciousness and leading each to his or her inner Being. We are an affiliate of The Gnostic Society Samael Aun Weor. We are a community dedicated to study and live the Gnostic teachings of Samael Aun Weor.

We also offer progressive invitation levels that build on a growing didactic of applied philosophy, science, art, and mysticism. As we apply the teachings within ourselves and within our way of thinking, feeling and being, theory becomes living experience. Philosophy regains its meaning: love of wisdom. We find art in creative comprehension and awakened imagination, inspiration and intuition. We discover the intimate relationship between science and mysticism and we experience the meaning of religion from the Latin, religare, to reunite with divinity.

“The best religion available to the human race is love”
The Gnostic Master Samael Aun Weor was born in Colombia in 1917 with the birth name Victor Manuel Gomez Rodriguez. From a very young age he was interested in transcendental aspects of life and searched the authentic path of awakening consciousness in various teachings and schools: Theosophy, The 4th Way, the Masonic tradition, Gnostic-Rosicrucianism, mystical Christianity, indigenous wisdom, kabbalah, alchemy, and various religions and spiritual philosophies.
Master Samael’s lifelong mission was to deliver the complete path toward the Self-realization of the Being or, in other words, the total and exact science required by anyone of any religion, race, culture, or creed who wishes to fully develop the human soul. The path he taught is the Path of the Bodhisattva, that mysterious and ancient wisdom long hidden in the bosom of every great religion.
Samael Aun Weor wrote over seventy books, gave hundreds of lectures and formed the worldwide Gnostic Movement. His work has inspired millions of people around the world to enter the Path toward the Self-realization of the Being. These outer accomplishments are merely a reflection of the work he accomplished internally, spiritually. And yet he still said,
“Do not follow me. I am just a signpost. Reach your own Self-realization.”
Gnostic centers throughout the world continue to live and fulfill the mission of the Venerable Master Samael Aun Weor by living and teaching the three factors for the revolution of the consciousness:
- To die to one’s egotistical desires and psychological “I”
- To be born as a soul
- To sacrifice for humanity
